Real jungle experience in Boca del Puma
The transportation to and from our hotel was organized and communicated clearly. We knew exactly which type of van to look for and were picked up exactly when we were told. We were greeted at the site by Gabriel and Jesús. We rodé bikes to the platform área for the zipline (only about 1km, flat ground) and were set up with our equipment.
There are 7 ziplines on the attraction and they all differ in height, speed, length and view of the jungle. I have a pretty good fear of heights, but Jesús has a calming way about him that puts his visitors at ease. He also is blessed with a wealth of experience and stories from his life living in the jungle with his family.
Once we finished ziplining, Jesús took us on a brief tour of parts of the jungle and gave us a history of his family in the jungle and life in early 20th Century México. We found it extremely informative. His passion and love of his home and the jungle is obvious and is infectious to those around him.
Gabriel then took us into the cenote for a refreshing swim. The cenote is not for the faint-of-heart (or claustrophobic...of which I am one), but it is beautiful and something that is absolutely worth seeing and experiencing when you are here. The water is cool and fresh and clean.
There are many zipline options in the Cancun/Playa del Carmen/Puerto Morelos área. We chose Boca del Puma because it is NOT a commercialized outfit. We were given individual attention and an amazing experience in an authentic environment. These zipline-type activities grew from Jesús' imagination some 18 years ago and his passion for the jungle and sharing it with others is obvious from the first moment you meet him! If you want a memorable experience at a FRACTION of the price of the other corporate places, go visit Jesús, Gabriel and Boca del Puma. We are glad we did!!
