La increíble magnitud del Paraiso

El paisaje del Tibet no dejaba de asombrarnos una y otra vez; tras asistir absortos a la contemplación de la inusual e hipnótica belleza del lago Yamzhog Yumco pensé que ya nada me podría sorprender en los pocos kilómetros que nos separaban de la población de Gyantse, sin embargo a escasos kilómetros del mencionado lago, situado a los pies del paso de montaña que lleva el nombre de Kharo La (Kharola), se alzaba majestuosa la silueta de un imponente glaciar.

Nos encontramos a unos 5.500 metros de altitud y la magia del paisaje nos envuelve una vez más, los colores ocres y verdosos de los enormes picos pelados que nos rodean contrastan con la blancura azulada que tiñe las laderas del pico sobre el que se desliza el hielo del glaciar Kharola.


La cumbre el glaciar cuya magnitud excede a la capacidad del objetivo de mi vieja Pentax se eleva hasta los 7.191 metros de altitud.

El ganado pace ausente y ajeno a nuestro entusiasmo y los pastores nómadas se cuelan descarados como anónimos personajes en las instantáneas que costosamente tomamos al pie del glaciar y que en vano pretenden inmortalizar la grandeza del lugar.

Es imposible retratar el paraíso fielmente, al menos para los simples mortales……

La belleza que depara la cordillera del Himalaya corta literalmente la respiración, la luz del sol que incide sobre el hielo del glaciar ciega nuestra visión y sin duda curte las pieles de los sufridos habitantes de estas latitudes.

Abandonamos el glaciar y seguimos nuestro camino hacia Gyangtse.
